As soon as
you receive the flowers, unpack the roses, remove the lower leaves
and thorns carefully. Make sure you don't injury the bark. |
 |
In an underwater
cutter, recut the stems with a sharp, clean knife or shears. |
 |
Place the
roses in 105 - 110 degree F (40 - 43 degree C) water. Adjust the
pH to 3.0 with citric acid. Keep the roses in the mixture until
they are crisp (30 - 60 minutes). |
 |
Take the
roses out of the water and transfer them into a bucket or vase
with floral preservative and chill. |
 |
Floral
Foam |
| |
|
 |
Don't put
the roses in the foam unless they are totally hydrated. |
 |
Soak the
foam in a floral preservative instead of plain water-- this will
help the bouquet last longer! |

Delivery |
| |
|
 |
If roses
are to be delivered in a box (without water), place the stems
in vials of preservative solution (or in foam that has been soaked
in preservative solution). Otherwise, it's best to have roses
delivered in a preservative solution in the vase itself. |
 |
If the roses
need to be delivered dry, make sure they were hydrated completely
and include a care sheet for your customers. Suggest the roses
be placed in warm water (105 degree F/40 degree C)for 30 minutes
before arranging in a floral preservative. |
